AIAS - American Institute of Architecture Students -- an independent, student-run organization that informs students of current issues in architecture and promotes excellence in architectural education. AIAS is involved in various activities on local and national levels, including competitions, design charrettes, social activities, portfolio workshops, and college committee membership. In addition, AIAS works in conjunction with the America Institute of Architects and local firms to give students a tangible connection to the profession.

UMSIDA - U of M Student Interior Design Association -- UMSIDA acts as liaison between the four organizations ASID, IIDA, NEWH, USGBC and U of M students. UMSIDA sponsors programs, speakers, scholarships, and fundraising activities through these organizations, which offer students the opportunity to interact with practitioners and learn more about the interior design industry.

AOASC - Assembly of Architects Student Chapter -- a Minnesota-based student organization for design students of color, dedicated to assisting students with networking, job placement, mentorship opportunities, and more.  The student chapter is affiliated with the Assembly of Architects, an organization for professionals of color practicing in the fields of architecture, interior design, and landscape architecture.


DSAB - College of Design Student and Alumni Board -- provides leadership for the College of Design Alumni Society and serves as the official College of Design Student Board for graduate and undergraduate students. Student and alumni board members work together with alumni, faculty, and the design community to develop programs and services that enhance the student experience and support the transition from college to career.

DHAGSO - DHA Graduate Student Organization -- an educational and social organization that fosters collegial friendship between its members, plays an active role in the department, and provides opportunities for graduate students to lead and make their voices heard. These goals are accomplished by sponsoring and coordinating a variety of activities. Graduate students in the Department of Design, Housing, and Apparel, including those with a minor or supporting area in DHA, are automatically conferred membership upon entry into DHA.

 

FAB - Fashion and Business -- a pre-professional student organization providing experience, knowledge, volunteer opportunities, and a professional network to students of all majors who have a professional or casual interest in the fashion industry. FAB's mission is to better prepare & qualify a diverse collection of members for their academic & career objectives. With a strong emphasis on partnerships with other individuals and university student groups, FAB develops speaker presentations, events, and a magazine that showcase the diversity and applications of fashion from a wide variety of perspectives. The group also coordinates a fall Career Exhibition, an spring fashion show, manages an online store featuring student designers, and publishes a monthly fashion magazine.

GDSA - Graphic Design Student Association -- This organization is open to all students interested in graphic design, and is also the AIGA professional organization for design, student chapter (affiliated with AIGA-Minnesota). It provides an opportunity for a dynamic internal graphic design student forum.  The purpose is to generate exciting professional and academic connections.  Affiliated with the Graphic Design Program.

Greenlight -- a group of motivated individuals who are looking to revolutionize the way we live, design, build, and interact with our environment. We believe we can shape our world and positively contribute to our growing ecological and social awareness through creative exploration. We believe sustainability not only has the capacity of shaping our physical environment, but also guide our everyday lives and relationships to a more meaningful existence. Greenlight seeks to attract a network of individuals with a variety of interests who are personally invested in creating fundamentally positive social and ecological change.

HOUS - Housing Organization for University Students -- promotes the interests of students in all housing-related areas: community development and policy, finance and management, technology, and special populations. It also provides speakers, class schedule updates, and networking. HOUS is affiliated with the Department of Design, Housing, and Apparel.

MASLAS - Minnesota Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architecture Students -- affiliated with the American Society of Landscape Architects and informs students of current issues in landscape architecture and provides an excellent connection to the profession. The group is involved in various activities, including the lecture series, competitions, design charrettes, social activities, and portfolio workshops.

SDA - STUDENTS FOR DESIGN ACTIVISM -- SDA's mission is to apply our design education with innovative design projects that address cultural,environmental,and political issues. Established two years ago, we have been working on small and large scale visionary and practice based projects within Minneapolis and St. Paul. We are a forum for ideas and support for those looking to put their creativity to work.

SNU - Students for New Urbanism -- the mission of this organization is to have a community of students present, explore, discuss and apply the ideas of new urbanism. Students, faculty, professionals, and the greater community of Minnesota will be educated about the importance of new urbanism, and how to design and maintain great urban environments that benefit us all.

USGBC - U.S. Green Building Council Student Chapter -- The USGBC student chapter will promote public understanding and appreciation of the challenges and solutions posed by improved sustainable building practices.  USGBC students will promote understanding, adoption and use of sustainable building practices across the University community.  It will also provide special opportunities for those interested in LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design accreditation.
